Description: Music virus I got hit with a music virus that attached itself to Netscape. It was piano music that played over and over again, without end and with no apparent way to shut it off. The music file was actually well done as it was hard to see where it repeats. A few days ago, I inadvertently opened a file that had found its way into my download files. The file, if I remember correctly was sweetheart.exe which when opened produced the message GOTCHA. Then the sweetheart.exe file disappeared. Days later, when surfing the net with Netscape, and after visiting several sites, my speakers started playing this piano music. (The music started playing at 8:00 AM on 01/05/00) It played over and over again for six hours. There was no apparent way to shut it off. I finally tracked it down as being some file (which I don't know yet) that had attached itself to the Netscape.exe file. Killing the Netscape.exe file got rid of the music. It has been about twenty hours since I killed it and have not heard it come back. Today (01/06/00), I checked the download manager GoZilla and found that Gozilla had indeed recorded this file. The record shows that I got this file on 01/01/00 at 20:30. The file was indeed--- sweetheart.exe --- from the following site. http://www.fun4u.dk/links/ugens/sweetheart.exe Hope sombody looks at this file as Norton AntiVirus 5.0 (updated) did no good on this virus.
