Definition: IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat", IRC is chat system where people log into "channels" and discuss the channel topic.  You can be in numerous discussion channels at one time, allow you to talk to certain individuals or listen to multiple topics. IRC is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can meet new people the world over and discuss anything that comes to mind, and this all happens in real-time. At any given time there is hundreds of different discussions taking place on a wide range of topics, you simply look for the topic(s) that interest you and join in.
