Macintosh

Bullet-1.gif (1649 bytes) MacPing
MacPing is an AppleTalk and IP network testing tool. Just as sonar or radar systems send a signal and wait for an echo, MacPing sends "probe packets" into the network and waits for responses from the various devices on the network. The arrival of these response packets (or the lack of responses), along with the time the responses take to arrive, can tell a great deal about the network.

Windows

Bullet-1.gif (1649 bytes) Ping Thingy
Ping Thingy is a network diagnostic tool that verifies connectivity to a particular host on the network. Ping Thingy sends ICMP Echo requests in the form of a configurable data packet to a remote host, and displays the results for each Echo reply. Ping is one of the first and most important tools used for tracking down and diagnosing network problems.
